Department of Agricultural Technology (THP) Faculty of Agricultural Technology Universitas Brawijaya (FTP UB) held a joint curriculum discussion with the Head of National Agency of Drug and Food of the Republic of Indonesia (BPOM RI) Dr. Roy Alexander Sparringa, M.App. Sc. on 8th floor in Courtroom of FTP on Friday (02/13/2015) started at 13:30 pm.
In his speech when opened the event, Dean Dr. Ir. Sudarminto Setyo Yuwono, M.App.Sc., conveyed, “In FTP currently there are three departments of Agricultural Technology (THP), Agricultural Engineering (TEP) and Agro-industrial Technology (TIP). THP already have international accredited from the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) of United States. THP has two Study Program of Bachelor Degree (S1); Science and Food Technology and Biotechnology and Master Degree (S2) Study Program of Agricultural Product of Technology. If FTP has a motto Do the Best Towards Perfection, then FTP carrying the vision of becoming the center of the development of science, technology and human resources, and a dynamic quality to support the food industry and entrepreneurship in the global competition. To reach this vision we must be supported by appropriate curriculum that need a lot of input and advice in the preparation, “Dr. Sudarminto said.
Meanwhile Dr. Roy Alexander Sparringa, M.App. Sc. said that the curriculum should preferably refer to the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and meets three aspects; knowledge, the needs of work and managerial skills. “In the preparation of the curriculum it needs to consider how the provision of students after graduation and plunge into the community. How about their learning outcomes? Curriculum should be able to give the knowledge including knowledge, understanding, and the realm of competence. Do not forget about the needs in the world of work or skills that support and managerial skills. Maybe in the lecture occasionally need to bring in guest lecturers that are needed. Exploit the network and alumnus because THP FTP has many successful graduates in various fields. Last is the mindset. The success of a person is determined from mindset. Early on let’s build the perseverance, resilience and survival. Everything cannot be instant, specify to start from the simple to the root of the problem, “Dr. Roy said.
Separately the head of Department of THP FTP, Dr. Agustin Krisna Wardani, STP., M.Sc., said that this sharing in aims to get input from the experts in order to appropriate the curriculum with the standards and KKNI IFT. “We intentionally invite experts and practitioners so the graduate of THP of FTP increasingly competent. Previously we have shared with practitioners from the industry, at this time with the government agency that also deals with the scientific realm of science THP FTP. We hope that the advice of Director of BPOM RI will answer anything that government needed, industry and national food security at the same time, “He explained.
