Global warming has become a hot issue now. There are a lots of news about the destruction of nature that is happening right now. However, have we taken steps to improve it with an environment-based lifestyle? With this motivation, FTP UB Environmental Engineering students create an environment-based lifestyle recognition program through the Malang Youth Movement or commonly abbreviated as MYM. MYM is an event to encourage High School students in Malang to think critically and solutively in handling environmental problems by doing a Zero Waste lifestyle.
Zero Waste itself is a philosophy of life that is used as a lifestyle to encourage the life cycle of resources so that products can be reused. MYM has two series, namely a workshop and a declaration. The workshop is giving environmental information to high school students. While the declaration is a form of agreement to implement the zero waste lifestyle. This activity was carried out in various high schools in Malang such as SMAN 1 Malang which was carried out on 2 September.
This activity was fully supported by the teachers and the response from students of SMAN 1 Malang was very enthusiastic. Students of SMAN 1 Malang are taught about environmental management, waste and sewage distribution, environmental health management, pollution control efforts, and conservation of water resources. The hope, by getting used to zero waste early on, will later create a generation that loves the environment in the future
