Food safety is a crucial thing. Guaranteed food quality can be seen from its security. Foods that are not guaranteed to be safe can cause various diseases. One reason is food poisoning by pathogenic microbes such as B. cereus, E. coli, and Salmonella which are the top three causes of foodborne diseases. Preventive steps that can be taken is by conducting early detection of pathogenic bacterial contamination.
Young innovator from UB’s Agricultural Technology student Ratri Ike Rachmaningtyas Kai (2016) Nur Fauziyah (2016) and Esther Rimma Suryani Togatorop (2017) under the guidance of Ms. Endrika Widyastuti S.Pt, M.P, M.Sc. created a detection tool for pathogenic bacteria that can detect three types of bacteria at once namely B. cereus, E. coli, and Salmonella. It is hoped that this tool can help and improve food safety in Indonesia.
